Template licence

One organisation. Unlimited products. Unlimited people inside that organisation. Forever. Change anything you like. Just do not resell it, publish it, or use it to produce documents as a service for other companies.

What you may do

Use the documents within one organisation — the legal entity that made the purchase, and its wholly owned subsidiaries.
Use them for any number of that organisation's own products, with no per-product fee, ever.
Give them to any number of employees and contractors working on that organisation's own compliance.
Adapt them freely — edit, restructure, rebrand, translate, merge into your own document management system, convert to another format.
Include the completed documents in technical files, submissions to notified bodies, responses to market surveillance authorities, and disclosures to your customers and auditors.
Keep using them in perpetuity. The licence does not expire and there is nothing to renew.

What you may not do

Resell, sublicense, rent or give away the templates, in original or lightly modified form.
Publish or redistribute them — including on a public website, a file-sharing service, a public repository, or a training platform.
Use them to produce compliance documentation as a service for third parties. Consultancies, test houses, notified bodies and compliance agencies need a consultancy licence — ask us, it is straightforward and not expensive.
Use them to create a competing template product.
Represent them, or anything derived from them, as official, approved, certified or endorsed by any authority or by us.
Remove copyright notices from the unmodified template files you retain.

The completed document is yours. Once you have filled a template in with your product's information, the resulting technical file is your document. Nothing in this licence gives us any right in it, and nothing restricts what you do with it in the course of your own compliance. The restrictions above are about the blank template, not about your work.

Consultancy licence

If you produce compliance documentation for clients, you need a consultancy licence. It permits use across an unlimited number of client engagements by a named number of practitioners. Email contact@compliantbook.com with the size of your team and we will send terms and a price.

Updates

Twelve months of updates are included from the date of purchase, sent to the email address used at checkout. After that, the version you hold is yours in perpetuity, but it will not be refreshed unless you buy again. We do not disable, expire or phone home to anything.

Ownership

The templates are licensed, not sold. Copyright and all other rights in the template documents remain with [[LEGAL ENTITY NAME]]. Quotations from EU legislation contained in them are reproduced from official sources and are not subject to our copyright.

Breach

If you breach this licence, it terminates. You must stop using and delete the template files. Documents you have already completed and placed in your technical files are not affected — we have no interest in interfering with your regulatory records.
