About Compliant Book

We publish reference material and document templates for EU product compliance. That is the whole business.

What we do

Two things. We write clear, accurate, dated explanations of what EU product regulations actually require — free, with sources cited so you can check us. And we sell structured document templates that give you the shape of a compliant technical file, so the work left is the part only you can do.

What we are not

We are not a notified body. We cannot assess, certify or approve anything. We are not a law firm and nothing here is legal advice. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorised by any European Union institution, and we do not represent that our materials are official or approved. Compliance with EU law remains the responsibility of the manufacturer.

Why this site exists

EU product regulation is written to be precise rather than readable. The essential requirements are in one annex, the documentation contents in another, the conformity routes in a third, and the dates in a final article that almost nobody reaches. The regulations are freely available and genuinely authoritative — but reading a regulation cold, to answer a specific question about your product, is a bad afternoon.

There is also a persistent gap between guidance and usable documents. The European Commission publishes extensive guidance on what technical documentation must contain, and consistently — across twenty years and every product regulation — does not publish templates. That is a reasonable position: no single template fits both a smart doorbell and a CNC machine. It does leave a real need, and it is the need we serve.

How we work

  • Every page is dated and reviewed. The review date is at the top. If it is old, treat it as old.
  • Sources are cited and linked, to primary material wherever it exists. Where we interpret, we say we are interpreting.
  • We correct errors in public. If you find one, tell us — corrections are made promptly and the review date is updated.
  • No tracking, and no third parties at all. No analytics, no advertising pixels, no embedded widgets — not even a font request to Google. Your browser talks to one server. How that works →
  • No accounts. Buying a template does not create a login. There is nothing to maintain and nothing of yours for us to lose.
