Copyright and takedown notices
If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, email contact@compliantbook.com with the subject line starting COPYRIGHT. We take these seriously and act quickly.
What a notice must contain
- Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
- Identification of the material on this site you claim is infringing, with the specific URL and enough detail for us to locate it.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
An incomplete notice may delay our response. A notice sent in bad faith may expose you to liability for damages, including costs and legal fees.
What we do
We acknowledge within three working days, review the claim, and where it is well-founded we remove or disable access to the material promptly and notify whoever supplied it. Where we believe the material is lawful — for example because it is a quotation from EU legislation, which is not protected by third-party copyright, or a short quotation with attribution — we will say so and explain why.
Counter-notice
If material you supplied was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, send a counter-notice to the same address containing your contact details, identification of the removed material and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief it was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification, your consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court, and your signature.
