Disclaimer
Read this before relying on anything here.
We are not a notified body. We cannot assess, certify, approve or attest to the conformity of any product. No document obtained from this site constitutes a certificate, attestation, approval or evidence of conformity assessment by a third party.
We are not a law firm and this is not legal advice. Nothing on this site, including our templates and their guidance notes, is legal advice or creates a lawyer-client relationship. If you need advice on your legal position, instruct a qualified lawyer in the relevant jurisdiction.
We are not affiliated with the European Union. Compliant Book is a private commercial publisher. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, authorised by, accredited by or acting for the European Union, the European Commission, ENISA, CEN, CENELEC, ETSI, any notified body, any national accreditation body or any Member State authority. Our documents are not official, not approved, and carry no official status of any kind.
Information may be incomplete or out of date
EU legislation, harmonised standards, Commission guidance and national implementations change. Interpretations differ and evolve. Every page on this site carries a review date. We cite and link primary sources so you can check the current position yourself, and you should, for anything that matters. We give no warranty that any content is accurate, complete, current or fit for any particular purpose.
Templates are starting structures, not compliance
Our templates provide a document structure aligned to the relevant annex, with guidance on what each section must demonstrate. They do not, and cannot:
- Perform your conformity assessment.
- Carry out your risk assessment.
- Test your product or verify any claim you make in them.
- Determine whether a regulation applies to your product.
- Guarantee that a market surveillance authority, notified body or customer will accept the resulting document.
A completed template is a well-organised technical file. It is not a compliant product. The substantive work — the engineering, the assessment, the testing, the judgement — is yours and cannot be delegated to a document.
Responsibility remains with the economic operator
Under EU product legislation, responsibility for compliance rests with the manufacturer and, in their respective roles, the authorised representative, importer and distributor. Using our material does not transfer any part of that responsibility to us, and we accept none of it.
Tools on this site are indicative
Our compliance checker and any similar tool are educational aids that apply simplified logic to the answers you give. They cannot see your product. Their output is a starting point for further work, never a determination of legal status, and must not be relied on as one.
Limitation
To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude liability for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, this site or anything obtained from it, including regulatory findings, penalties, enforcement action, product withdrawal or recall, rejected assessments, delays and third-party claims. See the limitation of liability in our terms →
Trade marks
Regulation names, standard designations and institution names are used for identification and descriptive purposes only. All trade marks are the property of their respective owners. Their use here does not imply any association or endorsement.
